SPIRITUALISM

Spiritualism is an officially recognised Religion, and The Spiritualists’ National Union possess a ministry recognised by Her Majesty’s Government. Spiritualism has no fixed creed or dogma. It is a universal Religion that recognises such leaders as Buddha, Mohammed, Moses as well as Jesus. We consider them all as great healers and teachers. Spiritualist Mediums are highly sensitive people who have developed their psychic awareness. They are able to communicate with those in the Spirit world who may still wish to communicate with us just as they would if they had moved to another part of this world. At some time in their lives all men ask themselves the question "What happens to me when I die?" Spiritualism claims to give the definite answer to this question. It affirms that man's spirit survives physical death and enters a Spirit world which surrounds and interpenetrates our material life. It asserts that the truth of this statement can be demonstrated under the right conditions when communication can and does take place between the worlds of spirit and earthly beings. This communication is only possible through individuals who have what are known as mediumistic abilities and who are known as mediums.

Spiritualists stress that the right conditions must prevail for communication to take place and that the prime condition is that there is a spirit person there willing to communicate. It is not generally understood that communication cannot take place unless the spirit are willing to do so. One of the greatest misapprehensions about Spiritualists is that they call up the dead. Nothing could be further from the truth; if anything, it is the other way round; ample evidence exists throughout history that if and when they are willing the spirit people call us.
Spiritualism base its philosophy on the seven prinicples, these are as follows:-

1. The Fatherhood of God
2. The Brotherhood of Man
3. The Communion of Spirits and the Ministry of Angels.
4. The Continuous Existence of the Human Soul.
5. Personal Responsibility.
6. Compensation and Retribution Hereafter for all the Good or Evil Deeds done on Earth.
7. Eternal Progression Open to every Human Soul

These are the Principles and not commandments. The main difference between Spiritualism and other religions is that Spiritualism is founded on the demonstrated proof that there is life after death and that there is a path of eternal progression for all mankind, with an acceptance of responsibility for all one’s own actions. Spiritualism Removes the fear of death. Comforts the bereaved Demonstrates the truth of survival and communication. Provides healing to the sick and hope to the lonely. Reveals a new meaning and purpose to life.

Under British government legislation on spiritualism, they do not recognise Trance and Physical Mediumship.
